✅ Is a $30 Bluetooth OBD2 dongle good enough or do I need a real scan tool?

Just want to read codes and watch live data on the Civic. Torque Pro vs a $150 handheld?

✅ Accepted solution
For reading codes and basic live data, the $30 dongle + an app is genuinely fine. Where it falls down is manufacturer-specific modules (ABS, airbag, body) and bidirectional tests. If you ever want to see what ScannerDanner is doing with a graph, you want the real tool. Start cheap.
