Been using sandpaper on glass for two years. Is upgrading worth it or is this one of those gear things?

Sandpaper works and the edge is the same. Where stones/diamonds win is cost over time (paper adds up) and speed on badly damaged edges. Diamond plates if you hate flattening stones. Stumpy Nubs has the best comparison video.
