Under-cabinet LED lighting: hardwired, low-voltage, done cleanly
Difficultymedium
Timean afternoon
Costabout $120
Tape light under the cabinets, a 24V driver in the cabinet above the microwave (hidden, ventilated), and a switch loop from an existing counter circuit. Run the low-voltage wire through the cabinet backs in the dead space, aluminum channel with a frosted diffuser so you do not see dots in the backsplash, and a 2700K to 3000K high-CRI tape (CRI 90+, food looks right).
Code notes: the driver's line-voltage side must be in a box or the driver's own enclosure, and the low-voltage side can run free. Dimmer must match the driver (triac vs 0-10V). Budget around $120 for a 12 ft kitchen.

Question: do you need to disconnect power for this or is it safe to leave it plugged in?
Glad it helped.
Upvoted for the safety notes alone.
