Ethanol gas is killing your small engines. Here is the storage routine that stops it.
Difficultyeasy
E10 pump gas absorbs water and goes stale in about 30 days in a vented tank; the varnish it leaves plugs the carb and the water corrodes the bowl. The routine:
- Buy ethanol-free gas if any station near you has it (pure-gas.org lists them). Worth the extra dollar for anything that sits.
- Otherwise add stabilizer when you fill the can, not when you store the machine.
- Before storage: run it dry, or fill the tank completely with stabilized fuel (less air = less water), your pick. For carbureted two-strokes, run dry.
- Drain the carb bowl with the bowl screw if it has one.
- Fresh gas every spring, dump the old in the car.
I have not cleaned a carb on my own equipment in four years since switching to ethanol-free.

Great find. Did not know this channel existed.
Unplug it. Always. Takes two seconds and the worst case otherwise is a trip to the ER.

Followed along, got it done in about twice the time quoted, but it is done and it works.
Nice. What did the whole thing end up costing you?
Would this work on the older model? Mine is about ten years older than the one shown.
Upvoted for the safety notes alone.
