Tubeless setup without a compressor: the soda bottle trick and a floor pump

Tape the rim (two wraps, pressed into the channel with a tire lever), valve in, tire on dry with no sealant, remove the valve core, and either use a $30 charger pump or the home version: a 2-liter soda bottle with a Presta valve glued through the cap and a short hose, pumped to 60 psi and dumped into the tire in one shot. Beads pop. Then add sealant through the valve with a syringe, core back in, inflate, shake and spin. Soapy water on the bead shows where it is not seated. 29er mountain tires are easy; narrow gravel tires fight you.

This is the kind of post that makes this place worth it.

Unplug it. Always. Takes two seconds and the worst case otherwise is a trip to the ER.

Can confirm, the cheap part is the one that fails. Replaced mine twice before reading this.
