Welcome to Fixitorium, and how to post a project

Fixitorium is a place for tinkerers. Not professionals, not influencers, just people who look at a broken thing or a boring thing and wonder what would happen if they messed with it. The projects here are random on purpose: a bike-powered phone charger, a cat door made from a filing cabinet, a way to fix a wobbly table with a bottle cap. If you built it and you can explain it, it belongs.

Three rooms

  • Posts (you are here): videos, photos, write-ups and links. Upload your own or paste a YouTube/Vimeo link. The sorter files it into a category from what you write; override it if it guessed wrong.
  • Forum: stuck? Post in Fix My Thing with photos and what you tried. Mark the reply that solved it.
  • Marketplace: sell or trade things you made. Crypto and card payments sit in escrow until the buyer confirms the item arrived in good shape.

What a good write-up looks like

  1. Why. One or two sentences on the problem or the itch.
  2. Materials and tools. Fill in the project details section so they show in the sidebar.
  3. Steps. Numbered, with photos where it matters.
  4. What went wrong. The most useful section on the whole page. Do not skip it.
  5. Video (optional). Paste a YouTube or Vimeo link and it embeds at the top.

Credit

A lot of the starter posts link to creators elsewhere: ChrisFix, This Old House, iFixit, HowToWith GEO and others. We embed and link, we do not copy. If you post someone else's video, name them in the "original creator" field.

Yep, same here. The second time is always faster.

Would this work on the older model? Mine is about ten years older than the one shown.

Should be the same procedure, the part moved slightly but the steps match.

Unplug it. Always. Takes two seconds and the worst case otherwise is a trip to the ER.

I did the same repair last month and your step 3 is where I got stuck. Wish I had this then.

Great find. Did not know this channel existed.
