Briggs 190cc push mower. Starts first pull, runs smoothly, dies after about five seconds. Repeat. New gas.

Five seconds is exactly how long a carb bowl lasts when nothing is refilling it. Either the float needle is stuck closed (gummed), the fuel line is kinked, or the tank vent in the cap is plugged (try it with the cap loose). My money is on the needle; pull the bowl and look.

Bowl had a layer of brown jelly and the needle was glued shut. Cleaned, runs. 20 minutes.
