Regen braking: worth it or not?
Difficultyeasy
On a direct-drive hub motor with a controller that supports it, regen recovers 5 to 10% of your energy on hilly rides and saves brake pads dramatically on long descents. On a geared hub motor it does nothing (the clutch freewheels). On a mid-drive, nothing. It also puts reverse torque on the axle, which is why two-sided torque arms exist.
If you are choosing a kit for a hilly city, a direct-drive motor with regen (Grin's setups, or the big 1,000 W DD hubs) is worth considering. For most people: not a reason to pick a kit.

Great find. Did not know this channel existed.
Nice. What did the whole thing end up costing you?
Yep, same here. The second time is always faster.

Small addition: wear eye protection for the part where you pry it. Learned that one the hard way.

The embedded video is clearer than the official service manual, which is a little embarrassing for the manufacturer.
Unplug it. Always. Takes two seconds and the worst case otherwise is a trip to the ER.

Glad it helped.
